School Meals
Devonshire Primary Academy’s school dinners are provided by Blackpool Catering Services and both organisations are very proud of the January 2024 ‘Health and Hygiene’ rating of ‘5’!
Universal Infant Free School Meals were introduced in September 2014. This entitles all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 to a free school meal.
School dinners cost £2.52 per day for children in Years 3-6, unless your child is entitled to a Free School Meal (check your child’s eligibility below). School dinners must be paid for on ParentPay or at a shop displaying the PayPoint symbol at least one week in advance. The school adopts a ‘no debt’ policy relating to school meals; please refer to our ‘Debt Management’ policy on the Policies tab of this website.
Please be aware that parents and carers must notify the school office if you wish your child to swap between school dinners and packed lunches, or vice versa. You must do this one week before changing your preference and you must also pay for school dinners in advance. Unfortunately, if the office has not been notified of changes, you may still be charged.
Income-Based Free School Meals
On 31 March 2025, all pupils with existing free school meal eligibility will continue to receive free school meals until the end of their primary school phase of education, regardless of whether the claimant meets the eligibility criteria. From 1 April 2025, any pupil gaining a new free school meal eligibility will not be protected by the free school meal protection policy. This means their eligibility will end whenever the claimant’s earnings rise above the threshold or they are no longer a recipient of Universal Credit.
If you believe you are entitled to income-based Free School Meals, you can apply online by clicking the button below.
*Please note, if your entitlement is rejected by the system and you believe this to be incorrect, you must ask the school office to investigate. To investigate, the school office may require evidence of financial statements. If an investigation finds the system decision is incorrect, Free School Meals will be awarded but cannot be backdated.
