Each June, beginning June 2021, Year 4 pupils across England will now be required to undertake a statutory Multiplication Tables Check.
We would appreciate parental support in helping Year 4 to prepare for the check. The best way to keep the test stress-free is to work some times tables practice into your daily routine. Our top tips for helping your child learn their times tables are:
✖️ Times Tables Rock Stars – ttrockstars.com! Your child accesses this website regularly in school and should know their login details. If they don’t please contact your child’s class teacher via Class Dojo.
✖️ Times Tables Wall Charts! You can access free times table wall charts at: https://cdn.oxfordowl.co.uk/2018/11/16/16/46/58/693/TimesTables_1_12.pdf
✖️ Make it real! If your child can’t see the point in learning their times tables, try to create opportunities for your child to use multiplication in problem solving. For example, ask them to scale up a recipe or calculate whether they have enough to buy more of their favourite things.
✖️ Learn the tricks for difficult times tables! There are clever tricks for remembering several of the times tables. You can see some of them here: https://youtu.be/6TWuOvN-4jk
Thank you for your support!
